ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Iya Ju (Ifágbemisolà)
Iya Ju (Ifágbemisolà) is an Iyanifá and Umbanda Priestess whose work blends African-rooted spiritual traditions, Divine Magic, and forest medicines. She holds specialized initiations in Fire Alchemy through the Pena Branca College and Exu Alchemy through the Saraceni Institute.
As the founder of Escola do Pentagrama, Iya Ju focuses on making ancestral knowledge and mediumistic development more accessible, practical, and grounded in true spiritual autonomy. Her background in education and global content development informs her unique approach: combining deep theological study with hands-on guidance that helps participants understand, strengthen, and responsibly navigate their mediumistic abilities. She uses Afro-diasporic shamanic practices as tools for spiritual connection, balance, healing, and personal growth.
A Mediumship Retreat
Step into a week devoted to exploring and developing mediumship through rhythm, ritual, medicine, and nature. Iba Ashé invites practicing and aspiring mediums to experience Umbanda’s living cosmology through drumming, sacred offerings, embodied movement, intimate teachings, and healing ceremonies.
Guided by experienced practitioners, you’ll deepen your sensitivity to the spiritual world while learning how to approach mediumship with greater awareness, discernment, and grounding. You’ll meet the Orixás—expressions of natural forces such as water, fire, earth, air, and sky—and explore how these forces influence love, health, justice, prosperity, and the deeper currents of daily life.
Medicine is part of this work, but it is not the retreat’s sole focus. It is held within a broader mediumistic practice, alongside music, prayer, ritual, study, and connection with nature. Expect evocative ceremonies, hands-on workshops, and intimate teachings that blend ancestral wisdom with practical tools for developing and integrating your mediumship.

This is a sanctuary for mediums and those who feel called to explore mediumship—whether you are beginning to recognize your sensitivity, seeking a grounded introduction, or continuing an established spiritual practice. No previous experience with Umbanda is required. Space is limited to preserve the intimacy and integrity of the work.

- We will be in touch to coordinate flights. Please do not book your flight without talking to us first
Refund Policy
- If we see that the participant may not be a good candidate based on the intake form and health information, we will refund their deposit
- 50% will be refunded if participants cancel at least one month prior to the retreat
- No refund will be given if cancelled under one month, unless the spot is able to be filled.
PREPARE YOUR TEMPLE
- State your intention - leading up to the retreat - for purification of your body, mind, heart, and spirit
- Ask for guidance, healing, enlightenment, and protection to come during this experience.
- Speak with a facilitator if you are on any medications.
AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE & AFTER
- Eat light nutritious meals, less fried or processed foods, low salt, sugar, and fat are ideal.
- No drugs
- Avoid alcohol consumption
